Hartra Hoegh Sdn Bhd was formed in 1981, when the need arose to form a new company within the HARPER WIRA Group to cater specially for the needs of HOEGH LINES. It was also incorporated as a Bumiputra company to position itself as a legitimate company to handle government project cargo shipments, as the government required that companies that wanted to participate in government project shipments should be Bumiputra companies. The name HARTRA is the combination of HARPER and TENTERA (Armed Forces ), who are the main shareholders of HARPER WIRA (the word WIRA means hero). HARTRA HOEGH is 100% owned by HARPER WIRA. The name HOEGH is derived from the Norwegian company LEIF HOEGH & CO. whom HARTRA HOEGH represents in Malaysia. At the inception of the company in 1981, Hartra Hoegh was agent for Hoegh Lines only. In 1983, Hartra Hoegh was appointed agent for Hoegh - Ugland Autoliners (HUAL) and in 1988 Hoyer Tank Container appointed Hartra Hoegh as their Malaysian agent. Today Hoyer is known as Hoyer-Odfjell BV. Over the years since its formation, Hartra Hoegh has been actively involved in tank container and agency operations, especially the handling of ro-ro vessels and conventional breakbulk shipments. Our main trade routes are to/from Europe, Middle East, Far East and the United States East Coast. The types of cargo we handle include vehicles, high and heavy machineries and equipment, rubber, plywood, timber, liquid products and project cargo.
